Our New Reality Persists and So Do We

flower in snow.jpg

Even nature is a little confused these days. I hope that you all are staying safe, weathering the pandemic without too much angst. I have found it to be a time to learn new things and connect in a totally new way. I’ve made some new friends who I hope to meet in person one day and I’ve managed to stay connected to old friends. I’m finding online teaching to be pretty great and I am going to keep that as part of my schedule. I plan to travel less for work and more for fun once things open up again. Where would we be without the internet?

My latest online workshop is a great one if you like to work in mixed metals, add in found materials, want to add metalwork to your bead work, or just add texture and volume to your work. It’s a fun class that is project based to some extent but there is plenty of room to make it your own. Registration is open now for Fabricate Sculptural Jewelry. It’s already about half full so don’t delay if you want to be in the class.

I will be planning a Drawing on Metal workshop soon. That would be the color class.

When Life Calls for a Pivot!

Deb and Dave at Blowing Rock

2020 really took a turn for the worse this year and most artists had to make a quick pivot to stay in business. I have done that by creating a virtual Drawing on Metal workshop. The first session filled up fast and will begin in mid-October. I will be teaching a second session at the beginning of November (registration opens 10/3/20 at 1pm est.) David and I have spent a lot of time at home this year and I spent most of it trying to learn how to create and edit videos. We did, however, manage to enjoy our beautiful mountains a bit. I’m so grateful for my beautiful city and friendly neighborhood. With no travel this year and a bit more time on my hands I also managed to tidy up the studio a bit. I made a spot for my sewing machine and another little spot for painting. Every now and then it’s good to get away from the bench. I’m also adjusting to my new Covid hair, so much hair! I suspect I may appreciate it more once the weather turns a bit colder.

I hope that all of you are staying healthy and busy. I know that it can be tough to adjust to our current situation but if we all make an effort we can keep each other safe. See you post Covid! Visit me on my Facebook page and let me know if I can help you out with motivation or inspiration.
